Molly's Poinsetta and a little advice

Here is the video of Molly making her poinsetta.  I tried to upload it the other day but it didn't work.
But finally, it's working.  Just something to make you laugh.

A fireplace to be proud of

It took me 4 days to get the fireplace right.  I still think it's missing something but I really like the way it looks...

What I'm most proud of is the poinsetta's.  I made the gold one but Molly made the red one (all by herself)

I wish I could've uploaded the video of Molly working on her bouquet....(YouTube keeps telling me the video is unavailable)....???  Here are the pictures of the fireplace and the poinsetta's.

The true Reason for Christmas

Although I love decorating and the beautiful lights.  What I love most about Christmas is the true reason for it.

God sent his son to be the savior of the world.  Born of a virgin he was sent here for one reason and only one reason.  To save US (all of us) from our own sinful ways.  We aren't worthy of such a sacrifice but he did it, BECAUSE HE LOVES US.....

Let's not forget the true meaning of Christmas by getting caught up in all the hype.

Tonight, while I was at church, my husband set up our Nativity.  I sure do love that man of mine....

LIGHTS, LIGHTS everywhere lights

Last year I bravely climbed up on the roof to hang the lights.  Let's just say "steep" is an understatement when you describe the pitches and peeks of the roof.  Any daredevil would find it hugely entertaining to sled off the top of the roof in to a deep snow pile.   I sat on my rear end scooching the whole way up and saying lots of prayers that I would be spared from pain should I prove just how graceful I am falling.  This year I hired someone to hang the lights for me.....I love my lights.

It's begnning to look alot like Christmas

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Christmas..... I get so excited about
decorating... and of course.....the tree is
where the decorating starts.

Our tree is up and decorated and now it's on to the fireplace.

Grey Thursday and the luckiest man on earth....

Let me just say..ONE MORE TIME.... I will never go shopping on Black Friday again.  I did it about 10 years ago and NEVER again will I do that again....... and now I add to the list of things I won't ever do again... Grey Thursday....

My husband is the luckiest man on earth... or atleast he better think so after last night.

He decided (at the last minute) that he wanted to take his boat to go duck hunting this morning.  Except the starter battery wasn't working.  I told him Walmart was opening at 8pm for their early sale.  He said he was going to go get the battery, then suddenly had a epiphany.  An epiphany that
involved ME going to get the battery and him staying home and putting the girls to bed.  Remind me
next time he has an epiphany to just thump him on the head and get it over with.....

It took me 30 minutes just to get through the crowd of people back to the automotive department.  The manager was nice enought to ring up the transaction on the register in automotive.  However, it then took another 30 minutes to get back through the crowd and out of the store.... Try convincing  the crazy people in line that you are just trying to cut over to the next aisle and closer to the exit.  Not trying to cut in front of them in line. WOW!!!

I'll spend my Black Friday....on my couch....shopping the smart way..... ONLINE!!!

Earning cash back, getting great coupon codes and great deals.  If you haven't already,
check it out....

Decorating theTable for Christmas

November 22

What a great day....Wish we could've had family here for the holidays but it was still a wonderful day.  Filled with Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and of course
PIE!!!!

Thanksgiving is Tony's holiday.....not really because of the food (although he does love the food) but because Thanksgiving day is the "OFFICIAL" opening day of the ORDEAL.  Otherwise known as Duck Hunting Season.  Several years ago I named this season the ORDEAL because that's exactly what it is.  A huge ordeal consisting of several months (prior to season) planning.  How many decoys do we need?  Buy waders, blinds, bullets, building blinds, and on.....and on.... and on..... I'm sure you get the picture.

If you haven't ever watched the show before... check out "Duck Dynasty" it says it all.....

My favorite Thanksgiving tradition you ask?  Black Friday?  NOT IN THIS LIFETIME......
My favorite tradition is pulling out all the Christmas decorations and decorating.

First order of business.  Out with the old decorations, in with the new ones.  Decorate the table for Christmas

Here's a picture of my table now.

Oreo Turkeys

Thursday is Thanksgiving  and tomorrow is the last day of the school week for Harley.
In honor of the holiday I am going to take the kids a special treat to school tomorrow.

Oreo turkeys....

Here's what I used to make them.

Each one is made out of

2 oreos
2 white chocolate chips
6 pieces of candy corn
1 reese's pb cup
1 malted milk ball
chocolate frosting
red gel
(I forgot the yellow frosting but it can be used for feet, you could also use another piece of cany corn for a nose)

I am going to put them on top of a cupcake so they have plenty to enjoy.

Setting the table for Thanksgiving.

Sorry I didn't get this posted last night there are just not enough hours in the day sometimes.

One of my favorite parts of the holidays is decorating and now that I have a formal dining room set I HAVE TO decorate it.  Not that I mind....

Happy Birthday Aimee

Another Fall tradition is for my good friend Aimee's birthday.  Her birthday was Friday and I was so busy I didn't get her gift made in time to give it to her on time, but I know she won't mind (since it's her favorite cheesecake).

Chocolate/Peanut Butter/White Chocolate Cheesecake.......mmmmmmm..  I've made her one for the last 4 years and I hope she loves this years just as much as the past.....

I will be taking it to her tomorrow.....

End of 1st Quarter of Homeschool

Well, well, well..... I can't believe it's already been 9 weeks.  But alas, we have come to the end of the first quarter..... YAY!!!

Molly is really enjoying homeschool life and is learning lots.

We start our days with calendar, weather and days of the week.

This semester we polished up on letters and their sounds.  She learned this in preschool but we started with review.  She is doing great with her phonics and writing.  She flies through all her school work like she's been doing it for a a lot longer....We have our routine down pretty good.  Monday and Thursday are our school days. (In Kindergarten it's alot easier to get done.)  We work on Writing, Phonics, Reading, Math and Spanish.  Wednesday is Gymnastics, Kids Choir and AWANA(this is where she works on her bible verses).

In Spanish she learned numbers 1-10, "Me llamo Molly", Hola, Adios, the colors (blanco, cafe, negro, morado, verde, azul, amarillo, naranja, rojo), and shapes (triangulo, circulo, estrella, ovalo, rectangulo, cuadrado and rhombo). ** She struggles with Cuadrado and Rhombo but gets them with hints.**

In Gymnastics she finally got her backbend standup and moved up to the next level (she is now on the Young Intermediate level).  She has a meet coming up soon and is hoping for another trophy.

In AWANA she has learned (1John 4:14, Psalm 147:5, Acts 16:31, 1Cor. 15:3-4, James 2:10, John 20:31, Psalm 118:1, John 4:19, Genesis 1:1, Genesis 1:31, Romans 3:23, Col. 1:3, John 7:17, 1 Peter 1:25, John 14:6, and the 1st 17 books of the New Testament (Mathew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, 1st and 2nd Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Phillipians, Colossians, 1st and 2nd Thesolonians, 1st and 2nd Timothy and Titus).

In Math we progressed through numbers, adding, time and. pennies

In Reading we read 5 books that taught short and long vowel sounds.  She is doing really well with her reading.  She's not reading novels yet but she can read basic words by sounding them out.  We do struggle with her desire to read though.  Not like her mother, I read all the time when I was little but we'll get there.....

So most of you will find this boring but it's a part of our life so I'll share it.

Mad Hatter Tea Party

9/28/2012
Last Saturday, (9/22/12), we celebrated Harley and Molly's very "unbirthdays" with a very special Mad Hatter Tea Party.  It turned out better than I could have imagined and everyone really had a great time.
I posted all the pics of the party on my Facebook page but I wanted to do a specialized post on here regarding the decorations.  So, for those interested I will post the pics of the decorations I made on the Fun Ideas page.....

Rabbit turns 8

There are so many milestones that you celebrate in life.  First steps, first words, first tooth, first tooth you lose, driving, drinking, college, marriage, the list goes on and on.... but the one milestone that undeniably "CHANGES YOUR WHOLE LIFE" is the birth of your first child.  When this happens, you lose your sleep, your quiet time, your clean house, your mind, and even your privacy in the bathroom.  My mother once told me "One day you will become a mom and you'll understand why I miss my privacy in the bathroom."  My sister and I both used to sit outside the bathroom door so we could talk to her.  We didn't think about the fact that it could've waited 5 minutes.  Now I just wish I could have 5 minutes.

Eight years ago today.... it doesn't seem possible that it's been that long.  Eight years ago today, my whole life changed when my beautiful Harley was born, 21-1/2", weighing in at 6 lbs. 13 oz.  Now she is.54", and weighs 78 lbs. My beautiful "Harley Rabbit" turned 8 today and I am so thankful for all the changes that have come with the past 8 years.

We had a party last weekend (and I will post pics and a story about that once I get the pics) but to make "HER DAY" special, we celebrated with waffles for breakfast and lunch with her at school.

Happy Birthday beautiful girl.

Molly Possum Turns 6

6 years ago today, my youngest daughter was born.  It was a day full of excitement and fear.  I remember very little about the first few days because after I had her I started bleeding internally and almost died.  I spent 8 days in the hospital and 6 months recovering but I survived and I am so glad I did.  It's been 6 years of laughter, tears and lots of prayers.....She and her sister are a handful and they keep me on my toes, but I wouldn't have it any other way
Sooooo, in honor of her birthday... here are some pics I really love from over the years.

Letting them fly is the scariest part.......

When I was a kid, I was the biggest Tom Boy ever..... I could do anything that any boy could do, and I could do it better.  I could run faster and climb higher, I rode horses (bare back), I got sooooo dirty my mom had to throw some of my clothes away because she couldn't get them clean.  If I got hurt, I tried everything possible not to show it.  I got back up and dusted myself off and acted like it didn't happen.  It made me sooooo mad when I hurt myself bad enough to warrant telling someone.  I've broken bones, knocked out 4 front teeth (at the same time), got a piece of tree bark stuck in my leg and, after 2 days of hiding it, I got blood poisoning ended up in the E.R. with my dad so they could get the bark out of my leg.  I've been kicked in the back by a horse, wrecked my bike and scraped one whole side of my face and much, much, more.  I survived, and I have really fond memories of it all....
Don't get me wrong, I'm no sadist.  I have bad memories of the events too, but I had a childhood that was full of adventure....

So why is it that when my kids go out to play, all I can do is worry....  I worry they will get hurt, I worry they will get dirty.  I worry they will break something.  I WORRY!!!  I keep a short leash on them and hover, yet they still manage to get hurt.  Always, the minute I turn my back...  they get hurt.

This has been a rough week, full of injuries.  Molly was riding her 4-wheeler last weekend and wrecked into the wire fencing that surrounds the property.  Clotheslined herself and ended up with a red scratch that went across her throat (looked like she tried to cut her head off), then yesterday I left to go to the grocery store and Harley was practicing her batting (softball).  As she went to swing at the ball Molly walked up behind her.  The bat didn't make it to the ball.  It was stopped by Molly's face.  When I got home and saw it, all I wanted to do was cry.... she was doing enough of that for all of us.....

She's ok.  Or atleast as "OK" as she can be.  But I ask this, when does it get easier?  When do I loosen the reigns and just face the fact that kids will be kids, they get hurt.  I know it's true but it's sooooo hard to see them hurt.

Welcome to my life.......

I decided to start this blog because I wanted to reach out and share my experiences as well as make friends that could share theirs.  I plan to share what I find entertaining, interesting, stressful, helpful and inspirational and probably ALOT more.  I will share what I find (i.e. coupons, recipes, things I buy for the kids, craft ideas, etc.).  I will share my stories, pictures and whatever else that I think you might enjoy.  To sum it up, I will share my life.  Maybe this should contain a WARNING LABEL.... FOLLOW AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!  (Smile)
